Having recently been promoted from the league of great eccentrics to the honours division of brilliant creators of pop, Ariel Pink with “Before Today” has shelved a decade of home recordings, unrestrained songs and blurred pop to join the ranks of the 4AD label. The Californian has not changed his style significantly- despite the fact that this is his first “professional” recording, lo-fi is still the name of the game-but his delicious fusion of eighties pop and sparkling sound of the seventies takes on a new dimension thanks to incredible songs like “Little Wig”, “Bright Lit Blue Skies” and “Menopause Men”.

Almost a decade dodging comparisons to Mogwai and similarities with Godspeed You! Black Emperor have led the Texans, Explosions In The Sky to polish and perfect a sound which comes directly from the source of the most robust and detailed instrumental rock. It is for this reason that, after records with a high emotional voltage like “The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place” and “All Of A Sudden / Miss Everyone”, post-rock is no longer enough to define the sound of a band that is now breaking four years of silence with the release of “Take Care, Take Care, Take Care”, a record produced by John Congleton (The Walkmen, Modest Mouse).

"Helplessness Blues" (Sub Pop, 2011)
One of the triumphant bands of 2008 thanks to their homonymous debut that was totally sweet and was loved by folk and pop alike by flirting with Simon & Garfunkel The Beach Boys and The Incredible String Band, Fleet foxes are reappearing to present their second record, a record that they thought they would be released in 2010 but was postponed until this year because of the extensive tour that the Seattle band has been doing. Although nothing has been said about their new work everything suggests that it will follow the same pastoral, melancholic path as its predecessor.
